Every shadow or bump is a considered suspect.

Lonsdale Street was once home to Melbourne's red light district.

The tour starts at 8.30pm.

By day Melbourne is a city of culture but once the sun disappears, many believe the capital absolutely teems with ghosts!

At 8.30pm sharp, the doors of the Haunted Bookshop in Melbourne creep open for a world-class ghost tour where visitors can come face to face with Melbourne's haunted past on a two-and-a-half-hour tour of the city.
The first step on the tour is the haunted Hotel Francis, a pub which is buzzing with supernatural activity. There are ghosts on the third floor and poltergeists on the second.

The tour then takes a 'frightening' turn onto Little Lonsdale Street, once home to Melbourne's red-light district. This is the place that has the most ghost-spotting on the tour and every shadow or bump is a considered suspect.

The third stop is Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne's biggest tourist attraction. Little do most people know, this was also Melbourne's first cemetery and 10,000 people were buried there. About a thousand bodies have been relocated since, but the rest still remain.

The tour comes to an end at The Mitre Tavern, which is a good place to settle down after the unnerving experience of the tour. Except, of course, if you just happen to spot the resident ghost who tends to appear on the balcony.
