If you're looking for a book on vampires, need some information on witchcraft or want to brush up on your occult research, Melbourne's Haunted Bookshop is the place to go.

Owner Drew Sinton chose a fitting date to open his store, which specialises in books on the occult and paranormal, throwing open his doors to the public on Halloween in 1997.

A lifetime interest in the occult led Drew to open the shop, which is often a destination for curious shoppers in search of a thrill.

But it is also a serious source of information and research titles.

Stocking occult philosophy books, bizarre and obscure titles such as The Last Days Of Christ The Vampire and The Dark Side Of Christian History, Drew says the store scares many customers away.

"I suppose it's a reverse psychology thing," he says. "They don't want to come in, but they are driven by their desire to defeat their fears."

Drew stocks Tarot cards and Ouija boards and runs the popular Haunted Melbourne Ghost Tours from his shop.

Clairvoyants often offer readings within the store and Drew will search for rare titles for customers.
