SPORTS-mad Melbourne – probably best known interstate for its footy, Grand Prix and for hosting the Australian Open tennis – is in its element as host of the Commonwealth Games. But there is much more to the Victorian capital than sport. One of the best ways to see Melbourne is to take a tour.
Haunted city

For a night with a difference, try the Haunted Melbourne Ghost Tour. The adults-only walking tour is run by Haunted Bookshop and occult book author Drew Sinton, on Saturdays from 8.30pm-11pm from the bookshop at 15 McKillop St, City, off Bourke St. Cost $20 for adults.

The tour looks at the city's dark history, including the old cemetery wall at Queen Victoria Market, creepy alleys, abandoned buildings and other places that Drew claims ghosts inhabit.
